What we do
Our Ayahuasca Retreats
Join us for a retreat to connect with the Ayahuasca medicine and experience deep spiritual healing, while being guided by our shamans and facilitation team on how to navigate the spiritual and plant medicine worlds.
We offer flexible retreat lengths, with a minimum of 7 days (4 ceremonies). For deeper healing work, we recommend at least a 2 to 4 week retreat. For those looking to study shamanism, we offer learning retreats with a minimum of 3 months and up to 1 year.
- We hold 4 ayahuasca ceremonies per week, on Mondays, Tuesday, Thursdays and Fridays.
- You'll receive a personal ícaro every ceremony based on your healing intentions.
- We run integration conversations 3 times per week to discuss ceremony and get guidance from the shamans.
- We support you in 1-on-1 conversations and group sharing circles with trained facilitators.
- We prescribe master plant diets to meet your particular needs and boost your healing, for retreats 11 days or longer.

Led by Maestro Ricardo Amaringo
Shipibo-Conibo Maestro Ricardo Amaringo is the owner and lead shaman of Nihue Rao. He puts to use his 44+ years of experience with the medicine to make sure you receive the healing you’re looking for, and then some.
Our center is family-run, founded and operated by the Amaringo and Muñoz families. We are additionally supported by a warm and welcoming Shipibo, Peruvian and international community.

A traditional Shipibo refuge
As you make your way from the city of Iquitos to our center, you’ll be welcomed by the immense beauty and crisp air of the Amazon Rainforest. Our center is built traditionally and rustically, perfect for pasajeros who are up for an authentic jungle experience.
Most pasajeros stay in one of our 25 individual rooms, with electricity and a fan, while long-term dieters and apprentices stay in one of our 9 isolation tambos. Our center’s ammenities include a gym, botanical garden, and a communal lounge and dining room.

Mother Ayahuasca
Mother Ayahuasca, or Madrecita Ayahuasquita, is the main spirit behind the Ayahuasca medicine. Loving and caring as a mother would be, she is the spirit that will meet you, guide you, teach you and bring you profound healing as you drink her medicine and enter the spirit world, where the roots of your ailments lie.

Deeply seasoned in the world of Ayahuasca’s medicine and taught by the master plants over years of plant diets, our shamans deliver ícaros in ceremony to clean your body and mind of what you wish to leave behind. These powerful healing songs can clean pains, traumas and a variety of other ailments.
The master plants
If you are staying with us for 11 days or more, a master plant diet will be prescribed specifically to your needs and can boost your healing significantly. This spiritual ally guides your process day and night while you’re here, and becomes a guiding light for the rest of your life.
